Ochiawunma Akwiwu Ibe (She / Her)

Dr. Akwiwu-Ibe is highly accomplished and results-oriented cross-sector and strategic public health professional with 20+ years' of successful experience with increasing responsibility, designing, directly managing programs and achieving significant results in varied technical areas including Global Health Security (GHS) Agenda, Tuberculosis (TB), HIV& AIDS Care and support Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC), Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH) Community Health Systems Strengthening (CHSS), and Multi-sectoral nutrition programming for USAID and USG/PEPFAR funded programs. Recently served as the deputy project director for the $135M, 6-year U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded Infectious Disease Detection and Surveillance (IDDS) project- a flagship for diagnostics and surveillance for GHS and TB portfolios. As a seasoned project manager, Ochi has had oversight for significant portfolios within USAID and implementing partners (IPs) leading PEPFAR and health programs. She possesses a strong background in health systems strengthening with a recent focus on diagnostic networks and surveillance for infectious diseases. She has had long-term experience focusing on community health systems strengthening (CHSS) and service delivery for HIV/AIDS Care and Support, Nutrition and MNCH. Dr. Akwiwu-Ibe has proven ability to build host country systems and capacity of nationals, both in government agencies and indigenous civil society organizations (CSOs). She also possesses exceptional ability to forge unique partnerships and initiatives with internal and external stakeholders and has built existing networks of relationships in CHSS, HIV/AIDS MNCH both in the field, with development agencies like UNICEF, WHO, PEPFAR, CDC and USAID as well as host country Ministries of Health (MoH), Gender and Child Development.
