Patrick Bergman

I am passionate about being a force for positive change in an international setting, serving people in need. I have been serving the public and humanitarian aid sectors for 20+ years concentrating on various areas, in particular environmental (Europe, Suriname) and health (development aid). I am an authority in public management and institutional capacity building in an international setting. My skills include analysis, interpersonal skills, problem solving, management and providing insight and overview. I am also capable of assessing and diagnosing things holistically and strategically, getting to the bottom of things quickly and translating research results into strategic and tactical recommendations for improved implementation and optimal ways forward. I lived and worked in Europe (The Netherlands), Suriname, Lao PDR and Myanmar and was involved in programmes and projects concentrating on water management, climate change, nature conservation and public health. I worked with EU funds (INTERREG, R&D Framework programmes), The Global Fund for HIV/TB/Malaria, UNDP, GEF (Global Environmental Fund), GAVI (Global Alliance for Vaccination and Immunisation) and The Green Climate Fund. As a team manager, I make things happen through connecting all stakeholders taking into account all interests at stake in a way that is acceptable for all involved, while keeping implementing staff motivated and inspired. I have excellent communication and writing skills in both Dutch (mother tongue) and English, able to navigate complex multicultural environments and writing high quality documents reflecting the combined perspectives of all stakeholders and consulted resources. I have extensive experience in dealing with high level officials of governments in developing countries and public authorities in Europe, which includes navigating politically sensitive environments and building and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders.
