Summary

I am a Rural/Agricultural Development Finance sector specialist. I have a hands-on experience of more than three decades in this sector in India, Tanzania and Afghanistan. During my long career, I had an opportunity to work at the base (ground), intermediary and the top (policy making) levels. Till recently, I was working as the Chief Executive Officer of the Agricultural Development Fund of the Government of Afghanistan. Prior to that, I worked as Technical Adviser (Rural Finance) with the Prime Minister’s Office, Government of the United Republic of Tanzania for nearly four years. My career win the Rural/Agricultural Development Finance Sector started in 1985 as a first batch officer of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, a development finance institution owned by the Government of India (GoI) and mandated to secure development of agriculture and rural areas in the country, with which I had a long stint of nearly 29 years). Presently, I am engaged as an Independent Director on the Board of Directors of a private sector bank in India and have also taken up Advisory positions with a couple of other institutions.
