Ric Goodman

Ric has a proven ability in leading the delivery of large, complex and innovative social protection programmes for a variety of donors. As DAI Director, Resilience & Social Protection, he has lead a number of short term advisory missions supporting the growth of government-led shock-responsive social protection. Ric has been Team Leader on Kenya’s Hunger Safety Net Programme, for the last five years, working inside the National Drought Management Authority. In Bangladesh, Ric was the Programme Director of the £78m DFID-funded Chars Livelihoods Programme (CLP), having previously been Country Programme Manager for Oxfam on the DFID-funded Zambia Emergency Cash Transfer Programme. Ric has vast experience in liaising with, and building the capacity of, government institutions on social protection through support to the Government of Zambia in designing a National Social Protection Strategy and advising the Government of Indonesia on its move towards a comprehensive social protection system. • Professional experience working in international development focusing on resilience, social inclusion and social protection. Background in broad integrated programming spanning social development, livelihoods and market systems development, nutrition, basic healthcare, education, applying political economy analysis. • Proven ability in leading the delivery of large, complex and innovative social protection programmes for a variety of donors. • Leads short-term advisory missions supporting the growth of government-led shock-responsive and adaptive social protection, including on the FCDO-funded SPACE (advising on social protection during COVD-19 pandemic) and STAAR (social protection in fragile states) facilities. • Experience of Fragile, Conflict-affected and Violent states, including working with development partners, consultancy suppliers, host government ministries and donor agencies. • Adaptive and participatory management style.
