Dr. Mpala's professional journey is marked by his roles as Chief of Party (COP), Project Director, and Program Manager. With 15 years of experience in various capacities within USAID, FCDO, GFFO and AusAID funded projects, including as the overall lead as a Chief of Party and Project Director, he has implemented USAID Projects valued at over USD 166 million. His familiarity with Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards, and his training in 2 CFR 200, 2 CFR 700 and Federal Acquisition Regulations, instil confidence in his ability to navigate complex project requirements. Dr. Mpala is a proven leader with a track record of managing multi-sector projects that focus on Health, Nutrition, WASH and Food Security. His experience includes providing oversight to small, medium and large, complex donor-funded awards in volatile and uncertain contexts, including large USAID-funded programs with multiple international and national sub-awardees. He has progressive senior-level expertise directly managing USAID humanitarian and resilience activities funded by BHA in East Africa, Southern Africa and Central Asia. Dr. Mpala's leadership has led to significant improvements in community health outcomes, as he has effectively managed projects in health systems, strengthening and ensuring the provision of clean water, improved sanitation, and enhanced nutrition services. His strategic planning skills have ensured alignment with project goals and objectives, while his ability to foster strong relationships with stakeholders, including USAID, local governments, and community partners, has been instrumental in project success.
