Duties and Responsibilities
Organization: United Nations Global Compact Office (UNGCO), responsible for managing the Global Compact initiative, including its name, logo, and Integrity Measures.
Internship Periods:
Fall internships: commencing September 2025
Winter internships: commencing December 2025
Internship Terms:
Minimum duration: 3 months, possibility of extension up to 6 months
UNPAID
Full-time, 5 days per week (35 hours)
Supervised by a relevant UNGCO staff member
Objectives of UNGCO:
Integrate the Global Compact principles into business strategies and operations worldwide
Facilitate cooperation among stakeholders through partnerships and collective action in support of UN goals
Promote corporate sustainability across its 10 principles

Intern Responsibilities:
Conduct research on corporate sustainability topics
Draft and edit publications, papers, and other documents
Liaise with Global Compact stakeholders
Support the organization of meetings and events
Assist with outreach activities
Handle emails and other inquiries
Perform administrative tasks as required
Qualifications / Special Skills
Educational Requirements:
Enrolled in or completed a graduate program (second university degree or higher)
Or, enrolled in or completed the final year of a first university degree (minimum bachelor’s)
Technical Skills:
Computer literate in standard software applications, including Excel
Additional Competencies:
Keen interest in the work of the United Nations
Commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter
Ability to interact successfully with individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds and beliefs
Desirable Background:
Exposure to political science, history, international relations, corporate sustainability, law, public administration, or related fields
Experience:
No prior work experience required; training, education, or skills should benefit the UN during the internship
Previous UN internship experience, if any, should be noted including entity and assignment dates
Languages
English and French are working languages of the UN Secretariat
Fluency in English is required for this position
Additional Information
Visa and Work Authorization:
Interns in the USA who are not US citizens or permanent residents will need a G4 visa
Interns are responsible for obtaining a valid visa and, if required, employment authorization (CPT/OPT/AT)

Interns are not financially remunerated by the UN
Costs for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the intern or sponsoring institution
Non-citizens or non-permanent residents may need appropriate visa and work/employment authorization
