Support the implementation of COP 30 activities and daily communications and translation tasks for the UNEP Brazil Country Office.
Contribute to strategic communications planning to support UNEP’s mission, strengthen organizational visibility, and raise public awareness on environmental issues.
Maintain and regularly update the UNEP Brazil website and social media channels.
Collect background information and contribute to the preparation of infographics, newsletters, reports, project documents, and other materials.
Maintain the office’s mailing list and support office network expansion strategies.
Contribute to media clipping and monitor media coverage.
Support media contacts to generate proactive and positive news coverage.
Assist in organizing publications, data, and files upon request.
Assist the Communication Focal Point in gathering relevant information for documents and analysis.
Prepare drafts of documents, correspondence, general reports, and overview registries for the Communication Team.
Help develop graphic materials, edit audio-visual content, and prepare PowerPoint presentations.
Support the organization of workshops, seminars, and missions.
Translate press releases, opinion editorials, and other documents between English and Portuguese as required.
Draft routine e-mail correspondence in Portuguese, English, and Spanish and follow up appropriately.
Perform other clerical tasks as required.
Support other activities of the Country Office as requested.
Interns work full-time (five days/week, 40 hours) under supervision.
Qualifications/Special Skills
Enrolled in a Master’s Degree program, final-year Bachelor, or have a university degree in Media and Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Advertisement, Marketing, Languages, Translation, Fine Arts, International Relations, or any relevant Communication field.
Computer literate in standard software applications (MS Office).
Demonstrated interest in the work of the United Nations and commitment to the UN Charter.
Ability to interact successfully with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, showing tolerance and understanding of differing opinions.
Languages
Fluency in oral and written English and Portuguese required.
Knowledge of another UN official language is desirable.
