Job Description

Work Location

  • In-person at UNHQ in New York, or hybrid (combination of in-person and remote)

Expected Duration

  • Six months, starting from 1 November 2025

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsibilities depend on the project(s) undertaken, intern’s background, and duration of the internship
  • Daily responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
    • Provide assistance in the formulation of conference management statistics
    • Provide technical assistance in global IT projects
    • Assist in costing of conference services
    • Help prepare and update the UN calendar of conferences and meetings
    • Assist in preparation and distribution of monthly, weekly, and daily meeting programmes
    • Respond to queries from delegates and secretariats regarding meetings programme, One-Stop-Shop system, and UN calendar of conferences and meetings
    • Coordinate conference services with other service providers

Qualifications/Special Skills

  • Must meet one of the following:
    • Enrolled in a graduate school programme (second degree or higher)
    • Enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level)
    • Graduated with a university degree
  • Official proof from the university must be attached to the INSPIRA application
  • Advanced organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good editing and analytical skills
  • Experience in using data visualization tools
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel and Word

Languages

  • English and French are the working languages of the UN Secretariat
  • Fluency in English (oral and written) is required
  • Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage

  • Interns are not financially remunerated by the UN
  • Costs for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or sponsoring institutions
  • Non-citizens or non-permanent residents may need appropriate visa and work/employment authorization
  • Candidates should clarify specific visa requirements before accepting the internship offer
