UNDSS provides leadership, operational support, and oversight of the UN Security Management System (UNSMS) globally
Supports safe and effective delivery of UN programmes in complex environments

The Division of Partnerships and Specialized Support (DPSS) sets standards and provides specialized support in:
Physical security
Training
Coordination of close protection services
Critical incident stress management
Promotion of road safety
Innovations and digital transformation
Information management
Internship duration: 3–6 months, UNPAID, designed to be full-time (35 hours/week) and in-person, with potential remote/hybrid or part-time (20 hours/week) arrangements on exceptional basis
Interns work under supervision of assigned staff
Intern Duties Include:
Research and compile information on latest information analysis methodologies, OSINT (Open Source Information), including:
Social media use for Security Threat Information (STI)
Mapping and other OSINT tools
Misinformation, disinformation, and mal information (impacting the UN)
AI and deep fakes (impacting the UN)
Collation methods and forecasting models
Updating Security Analysis Process and Practice (SAPP) course materials and PPTs
Research and compile information for UNDSS online STI trainings
Assist in coordination and scheduling of workshops and training, maintaining participant lists
Perform other duties as required
Qualifications/Special Skills
Must meet one of the following:
Enrolled in graduate school programme (second degree or higher)
Enrolled in final academic year of first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s)
Graduated with a university degree
Completed online application (Cover Note and Personal History Profile) required; incomplete applications not reviewed

Explanation of suitability for the internship

Interns must adhere to:
No immediate family of UN staff (child/sibling) in the same work unit or supervision chain
All applicable UN rules, regulations, instructions, and directives
Provide the UN with copies of all materials prepared; UN retains property rights to such materials
Respect UN impartiality and independence; not communicate information externally without authorization
