Job Description

Chemonics International is seeking a Data and Analytics Advisor. The Data and Analytics Advisor works closely with the Senior Director and the rest of the Data & Analytics team within the CEO office to provide support to the enterprise by developing complex data products and approaches that provide insights that drive decisions and generate added value. The Advisor leads and provides inputs into strategic projects and supports implementation of the corporate strategy milestones. The Advisor provides advisory and consultancy to the internal stakeholders, leverages various internal systems and data architecture to drive actionable insights and use of data. This role requires on-site work in our Washington, DC office location as part of our hybrid, flexible work structure.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads strategic projects involving complex data products and approaches to support the corporate strategy
  • Applies design thinking and agile methodology to work with stakeholders to elicit high-level requirements and capture business needs; understands the user journeys and define user requirements
  • Create user stories; develop and prioritize functional requirements
  • Engages with business partners and influence project decisions
  • Develops and configures custom PowerBI (and/or other technologies) reports using advanced data visualization techniques
  • Analyzes large data sets to identify trends and patterns and provide recommendations
  • Serves as a domain expert and provides expertise and guidance on systems and platform capabilities not readily apparent to users
  • Interprets data to discover solutions and opportunities, performs exploratory data analysis, and builds prototypes
  • Conducts quality assurance, advice, and coaching for other data managers
  • Fosters and demonstrates a workplace inclusive of creating opportunity, serving others, building trust, innovation, and exceeding expectations
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required

Management and Leadership:

  • Leads documentation and open sharing of best practices and important innovations company wide. Delivers effective oral and written presentations that advance development assistance knowledge and understanding and communicates in a way that persuades and promotes openness and innovation
  • Promotes staff development through coaching, mentoring, and facilitating professional growth opportunities, including mentoring on discrete new business development activities of varying complexity
  • Promotes and exemplifies Chemonics values and ethical standards and manages staff to achieve team and development objectives
  • Creates a productive and motivating work environment for staff by promoting cooperation and teamwork across departments, staying abreast of management, leadership, and team building strategies and advocating for them within Chemonics. Promotes the building of a strong partnership between project offices and home office based on open exchange

Requirements:

  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree in related field preferred
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of data and analytics best practices, trends, and concepts
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze, think critically, solve problems, and distill complex problems into simple solutions. Ability to solve technical and operational challenges with data, experience, and knowledge
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, and lead presentations, trainings, and effective meetings
  • Prior experience managing and supervising staff, multiple projects, and other initiatives preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational and prioritization skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead executive corporate initiatives
  • Experience in enterprise level data analysis
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills. Ability to use logic and reasoning based on a wide range of experience and training to solve moderately complex problems
  • Experience PowerPoint, Tableau, Power BI, SQL, DAX,, SSRS and programming languages (i.e., Python, SAS) preferred
  • Experience living or working in developing countries preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility and integrity

Physical Requirements:

  • Regular attendance and availability during normal business hours are required
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, climb stairs, and sit for long periods of time; regular use of hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls, and files; regularly required to talk and hear; and regularly required to use computer to look up, create, and modify documents
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

Work Conditions:

  • Normal office environment; usually moderate noise level
  • Occasional exposure to environmental conditions include exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by the weather
  • Ability to travel and work abroad in less developed countries for at least 4 to 8 weeks a year

The Salary Range for this position is expected to be: $103,680 - $129,600.

An employee’s pay position will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs.
