Reporting to the Deputy CEO - Programs, the Director, Support ECOWAS Regional Electricity is responsible for the successful implementation of the Regional Electricity Project. The Director manages project staff and ensures strong team cooperation, coordination with other departments and regional entities (The West Africa Power Pool, or WAPP and The ECOWAS Regional Electricity Regulatory Authority, or ERERA) involved in project implementation (e.g., procurement, environmental, and social oversight), robust risk management, and adherence to project work plans, budgets, and targeted outputs. The Director reports to the Deputy CEO for Programs and coordinates work activities with MCC counterparts. Another key objective for the Director, Support ECOWAS Regional Electricity is to assist ECOWAS electricity sector actors in the operationalization of Phase II of the WAPP regional electricity market (Day-Ahead Market), which seeks to enable daily trading of electricity under the Day-Ahead Market. The Day-Ahead Market shall host transactions for buying and selling electricity one day prior to the delivery day.”
The Millennium Challenge Account (MCA) in Côte d’Ivoire, collaborating with the Government of Côte d’Ivoire (GoCI) and the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) of the Government of the United States of America, is implementing a project under the $322.5 million Millennium Challenge Compact (Compact) that aims to strengthen regional energy security, lower energy costs, and support the provision of reliable and affordable electricity across West Africa by enhancing Côte d’Ivoire’s capacity to trade electricity on the regional market.
