Support the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), Regional Office for the Americas and the Caribbean (ROAC).
Conduct research on policy and financial frameworks for disaster risk reduction (DRR) financing, infrastructure resilience, resilient recovery, and private sector involvement in DRR.
Provide technical input for the development of knowledge products based on regional and global data sources.
Assist in drafting and revising concept notes, project proposals, reports, correspondence, and other documentation to support the Economic Affairs agenda in the region.
Provide technical and logistical support for the organization of events and online sessions related to the Economic Affairs agenda.
Collaborate with colleagues across ROAC to integrate the Economic Affairs agenda into other workstreams of the office.
Qualifications/Special Skills
Must meet one of the following criteria:
Enrolled in, or completed, a graduate school programme (university degree or equivalent, or higher).
Enrolled in, or completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent).
Applicants should be pursuing or have completed a degree in areas related to the internship.
No professional work experience is required, but relevant field of study is mandatory.
Ability to interact successfully with individuals from different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, showing tolerance and understanding.
Proficiency in standard software applications, especially MS Word, PowerPoint, and MS Teams.
Languages
Fluency in English and Spanish is required.
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
Additional Information
Internship is UNPAID; costs for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the intern or sponsoring institution.
Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken may need to obtain the appropriate visa and work authorization.
