Job Description
Dexis Professional Services (DPS) seeks a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) Advisor to support upcoming work at The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and other United States Government (USG) agencies. The DEIA Advisor will be responsible for providing actionable insights and advice to both leadership and staff in order to successfully embed DEIA practices in the workplace as well as in the recruitment of future employees.
Responsibilities
Illustrative responsibilities for the DEIA Advisor can include, but are not limited to:
- Advise staff on ways to incorporate DEIA into policies and outreach materials.
- Review policies, procedures, guidelines, reports, recruitment practices, etc. regularly to ensure DEIA factors are being considered and centered in the team’s work.
- Facilitate implementation of recommendations and reforms regarding DEIA activities.
- Developing workplans with a clear timeline, targets, and objectives for achieving USAID’s DEIA strategic plans, which may include, but are not limited to:
- Organizational Leadership
- Internal and External Accountability/Transparency
- Continuous Quality Improvement
- Program Design
- Workplace Culture & Climate
- Strategic Partnerships
- Performance Measures
- Hiring and Retention
- Procurement/Operational Systems
- Plan/curate/facilitate all-staff working sessions to help meet the DEIA goals.
- Provide progress updates on the development process, approvals, and implementation for DEIA policy changes as well as the adoption of new policies and programs.
- Support the development and implementation of training plans to increase diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and anti-racist efforts.
- Participate in development fora, both nationally and internationally, where DEIA operating procedures are discussed, and new approaches shared.
- Support other DEIA initiatives and needs as they arise.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- At least 4 years of experience in working in the DEIA field at a senior capacity
- Demonstrated success in leading and/or supporting cross-functional transformational activities, supporting the development and implementation of gender equity, diversity and inclusion strategies, and stewarding collaborative processes across multiple stakeholders
- Experience in advising and supporting senior management professionals on issues surrounding DEIA topics and policies
- Familiarity with US Government regulations on equal opportunity, non-discrimination, and inclusion
- Experience managing teams and external consultants
- Possess excellent interpersonal and communications skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- An advanced degree in a relevant field such as international relations, development practices, communications, organization management, or a related degree, or relevant Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of equivalent experience preferred.
- A demonstrated history of work in foreign affairs, international development, trade, economic growth, or related fields.
- Experience working with government agencies, including USAID.
- Certification or training in diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.
- Experience in organizational leadership, change management, labor relationships, and/or talent management and development.
- Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Demonstrated ability to convey messages through clear and concise writing.
- History of collaborating with external partners across the business spectrum, both public and private organizations.
