The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) is one of the five regional Commissions of the United Nations, founded in 1948 to contribute to the region’s economic and social development.
Mission includes designing, monitoring, and evaluating public policies, providing advisory services, expertise, and training to governments, and supporting regional and international cooperation and coordination activities.
Internship is within the International Trade and Integration Division in ECLAC, Santiago, Chile.
Duration depends on the needs of the office.
The intern will support the team in economic research activities.
Daily responsibilities vary based on the intern’s background and internship period.
Duties may include:
Compile, research, and gather information from a wide variety of sources.
Collect and organize data.
Process data and statistics.
Identify, interpret, analyze, and format data and statistics.
Summarize pertinent material.
Attend and summarize conferences and meetings.
Prepare input for electronic databases and the internet.
Prepare charts, graphs, and other outputs for reporting and presentation of various data.
Build special data sets for specific research needs or reports.
Qualifications/Special Skills
Minimum education requirement: High school diploma.
Applicants must be a student in the final year of a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. program, or have completed one of these programs.
Economics or a related field of study relevant to the internship is required.
Official certificate of enrollment or completion must be provided at a later stage.
Professional work experience is not required.
Languages
Knowledge of English or Spanish is desirable.

Costs for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
