The EIB, the European Union’s bank, is seeking to recruit for its Management Committee (MC) - Internal Audit Department (IA) - Internal Audit - EIF and IT Division (EIF&IT) - Internal Audit EIF Unit (IA-EIF) at its headquarters in Luxembourg: TRAINEE

Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st April 2026)

Objective of the traineeship

As a trainee in Internal Audit, you will assist the Internal Audit EIF Unit to implement its Strategic Orientations, in particular contributing to the delivery of audit assignments included in the Annual Audit Plan. You will also contribute to some ancillary activities, such as following-up the implementation of audit action points. This position will offer excellent opportunities to gain insight into internal audit activities at the EIB Group and the Internal Audit function, use your communication skills in a professional environment; and gain practical experience of working with highly skilled professionals on audit matters. It will enable you to learn about the EIB Group’s risk management and control frameworks and the business activities and functioning of the EIB Group, and in particular the EIF.

You will be able to:

  • Demonstrate cooperation by working in a team.
  • Apply analytical and synthesis skills.
  • Evidence attention to detail.
  • Apply IT skills (including the MS Office tools).

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will be mainly linked to the execution of standard audit procedures comprised in the Audit Work Programme of audit assignments. These comprise:

  • Contribute to the analysis of audited processes and identification of risks.
  • Participate in the construction of audit programmes.
  • Liaise with audit stakeholders, prepare, register and discuss interactions.
  • Conduct fieldwork audit procedures and report conclusions.
  • In addition, you may participate in the follow up and closure of audit action plans and, as relevant, in any transversal activities or projects, supporting the development or the internal processes / activities of the IA function.

Academic qualifications and professional skills

  • Final year of studies or University degree in business management, finance, economics, accounting, IT engineering, or another relevant discipline.
  • Knowledge of Power BI would be an asset.
  • Excellent analytical skills would be an advantage.
  • Organisational capabilities, commitment and accuracy would be an advantage.
  • Good communication skills with ability to work independent but also in a team would be an advantage.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS-Office applications (in particular Excel, Power Point, Word, etc.).
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English; Knowledge of French and/or other EU language would be an advantage.
