The EIB, the European Union’s bank, is seeking to recruit for its Portfolio Management & Monitoring Directorate (PMM) - Joint Middle Office Department (JMO) - Intermediated Lending Division (IL) - Implementation, Delinked RS and Central Allocation Unit (IDCA), at its headquarters in Luxembourg: TRAINEE

Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st March/April 2026)

Objective of the traineeship

The function relates to supporting the strategic projects ongoing in EIB’s Middle Office Division in charge of monitoring EIB operations intermediated by Financial Intermediaries.

The intermediate lending Middle Office monitors the transactions with Financial Intermediaries:

  • Benefiting from EIB funding to be on-lent to eligible beneficiaries for eligible projects, or
  • Benefiting from a guarantee from the EIB, where risk is shared with financial intermediaries on a portfolio of eligible loans.

The objective is to realise operational efficiency gains by supporting the implementation of IT developments and digitalisation initiatives relevant for monitoring of intermediated operations in the Joint Middle Office.

Responsibilities

You will support senior colleagues in charge of business analysis, project management and strategic planning tasks of the Intermediated Lending monitoring division to enable the implementation of the ongoing initiatives.

Your main tasks will be:

  • Supporting the technical developments in the different IT applications used by the Joint Middle Office Department Intermediated Lending Division (JMO/IL) by contributing to the implementation of new system updates. This involves participating in the parametrisation, testing and migration to the new systems.
  • Support the design and documentation of information and learning material relevant to the monitoring activity of EIB intermediated loans and guarantees,
  • As required, you will support the division with the usual monitoring activities.

You might also assist the JMO/IL division in other projects that might arise.

Academic qualifications and professional skills

  • Final year of studies or University degree preferably in Business Administration, Economics, Information Technology, Engineering or equivalent.
  • Good understanding of the EIB’s mission and activities as well as of the EIB financial products.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications incl. MS365, Copilot, Outlook & Word, excellent knowledge of Excel.
  • Analytical skills and data management abilities.
  • Experience with software development, programming or use of visual platforms would be an advantage.
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English. Knowledge of other EU language would be an advantage.
