The organization works with partners to build inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable cities and communities, promoting urbanization as a transformative force to reduce inequality, discrimination, and poverty.
The intern will work under the supervision of the Chief of the Office for Europe in Brussels.
Support the development and organization of an expert group meeting on urban indicators and data in Europe, to be held in June 2026.
Follow the work of the European Commission’s Housing Taskforce and the European Parliament’s Committee on Housing.
Key Responsibilities
Support background research for the expert group meeting and help identify suitable speakers.
Assist in developing two projects: one on cooperative housing and another on housing for Roma communities.
Provide daily administrative support to the office team, including note-taking at meetings, managing meeting requests, and other routine tasks.
Qualifications / Special Skills
At the time of application, candidates must meet one of the following:
Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or higher).
Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level).
Have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. programme.
Computer literacy in standard software applications (Microsoft Office Suite).
Demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter.
Ability to interact successfully with individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds and beliefs, with tolerance for differing opinions.
Preferred areas of study: social sciences, urban planning, geography, or similar.
Strong organizational skills.
Excellent drafting and written communication skills in English.
Previous professional work experience is not required, but relevant field of study is necessary.
Languages
Fluency in oral and written English is required.
Knowledge of another UN language (e.g., French) is desirable.
