Support OHCHR in fulfilling its mission to protect human rights, empower people to realize their rights, and assist duty-bearers in implementing these rights.
Report to the Deputy Chief or Chief of the Myanmar Team.
Monitor and analyze developments and trends in Myanmar, including human rights, politics, and conflict.
Research and draft internal and external notes and reports; prepare daily news updates on the human rights situation in the region.
Support engagement with UN human rights mechanisms, including Special Procedures and Treaty Bodies.
Assist with the organization of workshops and seminars, and maintain and develop information and resource tools.
Participate in meetings and conferences, take notes, and provide support as requested by the supervisor.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Special Skills
Enrolled in or completed a graduate programme (second university degree or higher) or enrolled in/final year of a first university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent).
Field of study should be related to human rights, law, international relations, or a closely related area.
Ability to draft news articles and/or social media posts is desirable.
Ability to design factsheets and surveys is desirable.
Languages
Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
Knowledge of an additional UN official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) is an advantage.
Additional Information
Internship is unpaid.
