Support OHCHR in its mission to protect human rights, empower people to realize their rights, and assist duty-bearers in implementing rights.
Report to the assigned manager in SEARO.
Monitor and analyze human rights developments and trends in South-East Asia.
Research and draft internal and external notes and reports; prepare daily news updates on the human rights situation in the region.
Support SEARO’s engagement with UN human rights mechanisms, including Special Procedures and Treaty Bodies.
Assist with organizing workshops and seminars.
Maintain and develop information and resource tools; update information on the website.
Participate in meetings and conferences, take notes, and perform other duties as requested by the supervisor.
Qualifications/Special Skills
Competency: Applicants must be a student in the final year of a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. program, or have completed one of these degrees; field of study should be closely related to the internship.
Skills:
Ability to draft news articles and/or social media posts (desirable)
Ability to design surveys and polls (desirable)
Language: Fluency in spoken and written English is required; French is a working language of the UN Secretariat.
Additional Information
This internship is based in Thailand.
Non-Thai citizens are responsible for obtaining a valid visa and employment authorization to undertake the internship.
