Work in the Editorial Unit, focusing on content for the UN Human Rights website, newsletters, events, social media, fundraising, and global campaigns

Result of Service / Key Tasks
Assist in production of bi-monthly newsletter, including layout, information gathering, dissemination, monitoring metrics, and reporting
Support production of weekly emails on upcoming communication products and social media metrics
Conduct research based on official UN documentation and other sources for drafting feature stories
Assist in preparation of public information campaigns and outreach activities, including collecting campaign feedback
Contribute to development and branding of public information products (fact sheets, background notes, brochures)
Research and draft texts for the OHCHR website, including thematic introductory pages
Liaise with OHCHR field presences and the UN Department of Public Information on communications matters
Assist in organizing and disseminating materials for partners and assembling public information materials for events
Support coordination of OHCHR briefings for visiting groups
Assist in monitoring and evaluation of campaigns and other communication products
Attend meetings relevant to assigned functions
Purpose of the Internship
OHCHR is the leading UN entity on human rights, promoting and protecting the full range of human rights and freedoms
Internship is with the Communications and Mobilization Section (CMS) of the External Engagement and Partnerships Service (EPS)
EPS creates synergies among external relations services to maximize impact and consists of five thematic areas: Audio-Visual, Graphic Design, Social Media, Editorial, and Web
CMS develops and implements strategies to improve awareness of human rights issues and generate support for OHCHR’s work
Qualifications / Special Skills
Must be a student in the final year of a bachelor’s, master’s, or Ph.D. program, or have completed one of these programs
Demonstrated interest in the work of the United Nations and human rights
Ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds
Languages
Fluency in English required
Knowledge of French is an asset
Knowledge of another UN official language (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, Spanish) is an advantage
