Support OHCHR in fulfilling its mission to protect human rights, empower people to realize their rights, and assist duty-bearers in implementing rights.
Report to the assigned manager in SEARO.
Daily responsibilities may focus on human rights and migration, climate change and environment, early warning, communication, or public information, depending on the intern’s background.
Specific Duties May Include:
Monitor and analyze human rights developments and trends in South-East Asia.
Research and draft internal and external notes and reports; prepare daily news updates on the human rights situation in the region.
Support SEARO’s engagement with UN human rights mechanisms, including Special Procedures and Treaty Bodies.
Assist with organizing workshops and seminars; maintain and develop information and resource tools; update information on the website.
Participate in meetings and conferences; take notes and perform other duties as requested by the supervisor.
Outputs/Work Assignment

Qualifications / Special Skills
Competency: Applicants do not need professional work experience but must have a field of study closely related to the internship.
Eligibility: Must be a student in the final year of a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. program, or have completed such a program; official proof required.
Skills: Ability to draft news articles and/or social media posts (desirable); ability to design surveys and polls (desirable).
Language: Fluency in spoken and written English is required. French is desirable.
