Job Description

Work Location

  • In person in New York or remote.
  • Full-time or part-time modalities will be considered.

Expected Duration

  • 2–4 months.
  • Desired start date: 1 September 2025.

Duties and Responsibilities
This position is located in the UN Division of Healthcare Management and Occupational Safety and Health (DHMOSH), Department of Operational Support (DOS).

  • DOS provides end-to-end operational support, advisory services, and other solutions to Secretariat entities, including departments, offices away from headquarters, peace operations, and regional commissions.
  • DHMOSH provides services to Secretariat entities and New York-based Agencies, Funds, and Programmes (AFP), including:
    • Medical entitlement administration.
    • Occupational safety and health.
    • Medical workforce management.
    • Clinical governance.
    • UN System Medical Emergency Response Strategy.
    • Patient safety and public health.
  • Possible responsibilities include:
    • Participate in the International Civil Services Committee (ICSC) review of duty stations for health classifications.
    • Organize the ICSC folder on the DHMOSH shared drive.
    • Assist the Medical Officer in developing an electronic data collection and analysis system for healthcare assessment.
    • Participate in ICSC work group meetings.
    • Perform other duties as requested by the OSH Section Chief.

Qualifications / Special Skills
Applicants must demonstrate an intention to work in a field relevant to DHMOSH and meet one of the following:

  • Enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent/higher).
  • Enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (Bachelor’s level or equivalent).
  • Graduated with a university degree (Bachelor’s level or equivalent).
  • Enrollment in medical sciences is desirable.

Additional requirements:

  • No professional work experience required, but field of study must be relevant to the internship.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Power BI, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) required.
  • Orientation in statistical data analytics desirable.
  • Public Health or Data Management background desirable.

Languages

  • Fluency in English required.
  • Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.

Additional Information

  • Visa and Work Authorization: For internships in the US, non-citizens/non-permanent residents will need a G4 visa. The intern must secure valid visa and work authorization before starting.
