Duties and Responsibilities
The Office of Programme Planning, Finance and Budget (OPPFB) of the Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance (DMSPC) provides strategic value-added services for programme planning and budgeting for the programme and peacekeeping budgets and voluntary contributions, accounting, treasury, and financial information operations services.
As such, OPPFB Finance Division is also responsible for overviewing, controlling, and creating a master data as well as creating and implementing policies, guidelines, and training materials for finance and budget areas.
The Contributions and Cost Recovery Service manages global cost recovery activities and policy. In addition, the Service also governs the ERP (Umoja) cost recovery master data, training and guidance material. These guidance materials and data are used across the Secretariat by the users of the Umoja/ERP system (SAP-based).
This internship is located in the Contributions and Cost Recovery Service of the Finance Division (FD), The Office of Programme Planning, Finance and Budget (OPPFB) of the Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance (DMSPC). The Intern reports to a Finance and Budget Officer.
This internship is unpaid and designed to be full-time and in-person but can be adjusted based on the needs of the successful candidate to part-time (20 hours per week) and/or remote.
The intern will support the team in the administration and further development of the Global Intern Network on Microsoft Teams. Tasks will include:
Qualifications/special skills
To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
(a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or,
(b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent).
Internships do not require work experience.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.
Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
