Duties and Responsibilities
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment.
Under the direct supervision of The Regional Coordinator for Environmental Governance in the Regional Office for West Asia in Beirut, the Intern will be assigned daily responsibilities based on the individual’s background; the office to which the intern is assigned to; the nature of specific projects and the internship duration.
This internship will be taking place in the Regional Office in Beirut, Lebanon.
The intern will support the team in managing and analysing data related to environmental governance in the region.
Under the direct supervision of the Regional Coordinator for Environmental Governance in the Regional Office the intern will:
Qualifications/special skills
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
Preferred Area of Study: Sustainability Management, Environmental Law, Environment Science, Policy and Leadership, Business Management, Governance, Political Science, or other related fields.
Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.
Be computer literate in standard software applications.
Have demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter;
Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
Languages
Fluency in Arabic and English is required.
