Job Description

OFFICE BACKGROUND:

The Department of Operational Support (DOS) provides end-to-end operational support, advisory services and other solutions to the operating entities across the Secretariat, including other departments, offices-away-from headquarters, field missions, and regional commissions. The Capacity Development Operational Training Service (CDOTS) provides operational training, including training on enterprise resource management system and leads as the main facilitator of business process management activities in the UN Secretariat.

The Business Processes and Systems Support Section (BPSSS) is responsible for working with clients and stakeholders to develop the processes and structures by which policies will be implemented across the Secretariat and to ensure that these are reflected in enterprise systems. It also provides training on Umoja, Inspira and other business applications related to resources management. The CDOTS Campus team is responsible for enhancing eLearning initiatives within the Learning Management System (LMS) and collaborating with CDOTS stakeholders to support Moodle-based eLearning courses, ensuring these courses are interactive and user-friendly, and aligning with CDOTS Learning Management Platform standards. The team reports to the Chief of BPSSS.

The internship is located with the CDOTS Campus Team/Business Processes and Systems Support Section (BPSSS)/Capacity Development and Operational Training Service (CDOTS).

OFFICE DUTIES:

Under general supervision of the Team Lead, the intern will support the CDOTS Campus Team in the implementation of new LMS Standard Operating Procedures.

Tasks will include:

• Quality assurance testing of elearning courses and programmes to ensure compliance with established CDOTS Campus standards (branding, technical specifications, catalogue, naming conventions, etc.) and SOPs.

• Developing documentation and tutorials for CDOTS Campus users and stakeholders (learning managers/course developers, learners, SMEs, etc.)

• Triaging support tickets and responding to queries related to user account management, troubleshooting, and elearning content management.

Qualifications/special skills

To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) in Instructional Design, Education Technology, Adult Learning/Teacher Training or a related field; or, (b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in any of the fields above.

Preference may be given to candidates with good knowledge of a Moodle-based Learning Management System and proven ability to use content authoring software (Articulate 360, HP5, etc.) and media design software (Adobe CC, Canva, etc.)
