Expected Duration

  • 3 to 6 months, starting in September 2025

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsibilities encompass all aspects of the Directorate’s work, including but not limited to:
    • Assist in analyzing international, regional, and domestic legal instruments.
    • Support the preparation of documents for meetings with Member States’ Permanent Missions to the United Nations in New York.
    • Support the organization of CTED meetings and seminars.
    • Monitor relevant Security Council meetings and produce timely, concise briefing notes.

Qualifications/Special Skills

  • Must be enrolled in or have completed a graduate degree programme in law (LLB, JD, LLM, PhD), international affairs, or political science.

Languages

  • Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
  • Proficiency in another United Nations language is desirable.

Intern Specific Information

  • Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations.
  • Costs for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
  • Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken may require the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization.
