The internship is UNPAID and may be either full-time or part-time.
Full-time internship working hours: 35 hours per week.
Part-time internship working hours: 20 hours per week.
The internship can be undertaken either remotely or in a hybrid arrangement at the UN Premise, New York, United States.
Initial duration:
Full-time internship: 2 months
Part-time internship: 4 months
Internships may be extended up to a maximum of 6 months, depending on the needs of the Division.
Under the general supervision of the Public Information Officer, duties may include:
Create content for social media based on the monthly editorial calendar.
Update UNMAS social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.).
Assist in creating visuals for social media and digital platforms.
Create social media analytics reports.
Assist in creating and editing videos using Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro.
Assist with graphic design, photography, and photo editing.
Assist in monitoring media coverage of mine action and international relations issues.
Research, compile, draft, and edit information for media materials.
Liaise with public information focal points in UNMAS field programmes regarding various requests.
Assist in drafting and preparing background documents, reports, talking points, articles, presentations, etc.
Assist with organizing events, website management, and mailing public information materials.
Attend and summarize conferences and meetings.
Assist in maintaining databases.
Perform other duties as necessary.
Qualifications/Special Skills
Applicants must meet one of the following:
Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
Field of study must be closely related to the internship applied for.
Good knowledge of video editing software such as Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro.
Experience with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.) is required.
Must provide proof of academic enrolment or completion at a later stage.
Languages
Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.
Official UN languages: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, and Spanish.

Intern Specific Information
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations.
Costs for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
