Job Description

Outline of the programme:

In the context of the Zambian-German Development Cooperation the Civil Society Participation is implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice. The objective is to improve justice delivery for all, and enhance respect for, and protection and fulfilment of human rights.

The project will focus on two expected result areas:

(1) Strengthened legal empowerment of rights-holders and access to legal assistance in civil and criminal cases with specific attention to the differentiated needs, situations and requirements of women, children and persons with disabilities; and

(2) Strengthened policy and institutional frameworks and coordination amongst stakeholders for efficient, effective and inclusive justice delivery.

A team of consultants is required to implement activities related to result areas 1 and 2 in the provinces of Lusaka, Copperbelt and Southern Province. The team members shall work with the Ministry of Justice, the Judiciary, Ministry of Home Affairs, local criminal justice institutions and paralegal service providers, providing support to improvements in legal assistance (to indicted persons, victims and the general public) as well as in the awareness on rights and the functioning of the legal sector.

Qualifications and skills

  • Diploma in secretarial services, office administration and/or business administration
  • At least 3 years of work experience in his/her profession
  • Membership of Professional body (if applicable – e.g. accounting, audit)
  • Previous GIZ experience and knowledge of GIZ administrative rules and regulations may be an asset

Key tasks:

  • Secretarial support to FC team
  • Liaison with CSPP Office Assistant on daily issues arising
  • Support to personnel management
  • Management of office installations and equipment
  • Follow-up of receivables pursuant to GIZ rules originating from financing contracts with Zambian partners (CSO and state) related to activities under the responsibility of the FC
  • Preparation of accounting documentation stemming from financing contracts with Zambian partners (CSO and state) related to activities under the responsibility of the FC for processing by CSPP/GIZ Country Office - in close cooperation with CSPP accountant

Project location: Lusaka with travel to the 3 project provinces as required

Duration: 41 months
