Program Background

Southeast Asia and Australia Government Partnerships (SEAG2G) is an Australian whole-of-government initiative to deepen institutional partnerships between Australia and Southeast Asian countries, driven by our shared commitment to a peaceful, stable and prosperous region. The program will enable two-way collaboration between agencies to share knowledge and tools and build policy and technical capability. Through stronger, deeper partnerships, Southeast Asia and Australia can create mutual and inclusive opportunities for economies, the climate and our diverse and vibrant communities.

SEAG2G supports Australian agencies to engage with their Southeast Asian counterparts across four thematic priorities:  

  • Climate Change and Energy Transition,  
  • Education and Skills,  
  • Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security, and  
  • Effective and Inclusive Public Institutions.  

SEAG2G is led by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT’s) Office of Southeast Asia, with DT Global as the managing contractor.  


The Role

Reporting to SEAG2G’s Partnerships Manager and working closely with the SEAG2G Partnership Leads, the Partnerships Coordinator will support effective partnerships between selected Australian and Southeast Asian government entities. As a Manila-based role, they will work closely with the SEAG2G Operations Support Team to deliver activities on behalf of Australian-SEA partnerships. The Partnerships Coordinator will also support effective engagement with relevant Southeast Asian counterparts and networks and with DFAT Posts. The role will work collaboratively with SEAG2G’s Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Lead, GEDSI-MEL Manager, Communications and Learning Coordinator, Australian agencies and other stakeholders to support partnerships and activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Liaise with Australian and Southeast Asian government partners to plan, implement and monitor partnerships and activities.
  • Support the drafting of agreements between DFAT and selected Australian government entities.
  • Support project management to deliver individual partnerships and activities, including developing budgets, tracking activities, timelines and SEAG2G team inputs, and entering data into SEAG2G’s Management Information System.
  • Coordinate inputs from across the SEAG2G team to deliver partnerships and activities, including but not limited to logistics, events management, communications, MEL, and GEDSI aspects.
  • Support and participate in SEAG2G activities as required, including but not limited to managing events and logistics, undertaking MEL data collection and documenting activities for communications purposes.
  • Support engagement of short-term advisors for project inputs, including contracting and due diligence.
  • Support risk management, including through drafting risk registers, developing safeguarding materials and providing safeguarding briefings where required.
  • As a member of the SEAG2G team, support the implementation and application of cross cutting issues, including on GEDSI, climate change, localisation and First Nations engagement.
  • Maintain records of information for program needs and provide regular communications and updates as requested by the Partnerships Manager on the progress of assigned work activities.
  • Any other duties, as agreed with the Partnerships Manager.

About You

  • At least 5 years of experience supporting program implementation in a similar role, preferably in a DFAT-funded development program
  • Strong communication skills, including both written and verbal English language skills.
  • Experience working with Southeast Asian and/or Australian government entities. Specific experience related to the SEAG2G thematic focus areas is an advantage.
  • Experience supporting data collection and MEL.
  • Proficiency in the use of MS Office Suite of programs, client relationship management (CRM) systems and/or other project and information management software.
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively as part of a dispersed team with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Experience applying safeguarding principles.
  • Commitment to advancing gender equality, disability equity and rights, and social inclusion.
