Program Background

The Southeast Asia and Australia Government Partnerships program (SEAG2G) aims to deepen institutional relationships between Australia and Southeast Asia in alignment with Australia’s International Development Policy.  

SEAG2G supports Australian agencies to engage with their Southeast Asian counterparts across four thematic priorities:  

  • Climate Change and Energy Transition,  
  • Education and Skills,  
  • Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security, and  
  • Effective and Inclusive Public Institutions.  

SEAG2G is led by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT’s) Office of Southeast Asia, with DT Global as the managing contractor.  


The Role

Reporting to SEAG2G’s GEDSI-MEL Manager and working closely with the SEAG2G MEL Lead, the MEL and GEDSI Coordinator will support the effective implementation of the program’s Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) Strategy and MEL Plan. The role will also work collaboratively with the Partnership Leads, Communications and Learning Coordinator, Australian government entities and other stakeholders to support MEL and GEDSI activities. This will include qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis, including related to GEDSI, across the range of program activities and partnerships. They will also support the program’s learning agenda and related processes, as well as the integration of cross cutting themes on climate change, First Nations engagement and localisation. As a Manila-based role, the GEDSI and MEL Coordinator will also support effective engagement with relevant Southeast Asian counterparts and networks, the SEAG2G Operations Support Team in Manila, as well as with DFAT Posts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the implementation of the MEL Plan including:
  • Manage data entry and quality assurance of information and data collection within existing MEL tools, as agreed.
  • Undertake selected quantitative and qualitative data collation and analysis tasks.
  • Support the measurement of program indicators on a regular basis.
  • Support the development and management of a Management Information System (MIS).
  • Provide input into SEAG2G reporting, including Annual Work Plans and six-monthly and annual progress reporting as well as other key program documents and processes.
  • Support the implementation of SEAG2G MEL and GEDSI aspects of agency Activity Schedules and activities and engage with Australian and Southeast Asian government entities (where relevant).
  • Support the GEDSI-MEL Manager and MEL Lead in developing and maintaining networks of GEDSI and MEL expertise in Southeast Asia.
  • Support the implementation of the GEDSI Strategy, including by:
  • Undertaking GEDSI analyses and tracking key GEDSI data across SEAG2G program focus areas.
  • Supporting the development of GEDSI resources and guidance documents.
  • Tracking GEDSI actions and documenting program learning on GEDSI.
  • Support the implementation and application of cross cutting issues, including on climate change, localisation and First Nations engagement.
  • Maintain records of information for program needs and provide regular communications and updates as requested by the GEDSI-MEL Manager on the progress of assigned work activities.
  • Any other duties, as agreed with the GEDSI-MEL Manager.

About You

  • Previous experience (at least 5 years) in a similar role, preferably implementing MEL systems and processes in a DFAT-funded development program.
  • Previous experience in a GEDSI-focused program or role, and/or experience supporting the implementation of considerations related to GEDSI or Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI).
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal English language skills.
  • Experience in quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis.
  • Good understanding of key issues related to GEDSI/DEI in Southeast Asia. Specific experience related to the SEAG2G thematic focus areas and work with policy stakeholders is an advantage.
  • Experience working with Southeast Asian and/or Australian government entities highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in the use of MS Office Suite of programs, in particular Excel for data collection.
  • Experience with PowerBI, MIS or similar is highly regarded.
  • Experience applying GEDSI and safeguards principles.
