UNPAID internship, five days per week (full time – 40 hours).
Support the substantive work of the UNODA Vienna Office in disarmament, non-proliferation, and international peace and security, liaising with Vienna-based organizations, including:
International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)
Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organisation (CTBTO)
UN Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA)
UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC)
Other Vienna-based entities
Participate in meetings, conferences, and seminars, preparing detailed meeting reports.
Assist in the planning and execution of outreach efforts and projects, including workshops, conferences, and training courses.
Support the development of communication products, including:
Managing social media accounts using tools such as Trello Boards
Curating multimedia content
Managing email accounts and websites
Preparing quarterly analytical reports
Contribute to the development and review of educational materials for diverse audiences, including content for UNODA’s e-learning platform, the Disarmament Education Dashboard.
Prepare background documents, presentations, summaries, talking points, and speeches; participate in briefings for visitor groups and other audiences.
Conduct analyses of open-source information related to disarmament, non-proliferation, and relevant UN processes.
Perform other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications / Special Skills
Must meet one of the following:
Enrolled in, or recently completed, a graduate school program (second university degree or higher).
Enrolled in, or recently completed, the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
Languages
Oral and written fluency in English is required.
Knowledge of another official UN language is an advantage.
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
Additional Information
Interns are not financially remunerated by the UN.
Costs for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
Non-citizens or non-permanent residents may need to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization.
