Political Director, Productivity for Prosperity (P4P)

PwC is working on a bid for FCDO’s upcoming £26.5 million, 5.5 year, Productivity for Prosperity (P4P) programme in Tanzania that is due to commence in July 2022. We are now looking for high calibre individuals to fill several critical roles for the core delivery team including the Political Director position who will be the main counterpart to Government and other external partners. The role will be based in Tanzania for the duration of the programme.

P4P is a high profile structural economic transformation programme aimed at increasing labour productivity and climate resilience in key sectors of Tanzania’s economy, including agro-processing and horticulture. It will have three main pillars: building capabilities of private sector firms, investment facilitation, and business environment reform.

The Political Director will have the following responsibilities:

  • Represent the programme externally including by liaising directly with senior stakeholders in Government, private sector and international partners
  • Act as full time senior member of the core programme delivery team
  • Be the primary point of contact for conversations with FCDO Advisors
  • Provide senior level guidance and support to the programme’s business environment reform team, including by identifying priorities, managing risks, and developing pathways for positive programme impact

Eligible candidates should have the following experiences and qualifications:

  • 15+ years relevant experience working with the public sector in Tanzania
  • Familiarity with other donor funded projects, ideally funded by the UK Government
  • Experience of delivering large, complex economic development programmes
  • Experience working with large international professional services organisations (or equivalent)
  • Influencing and communicating with senior political and business leaders
  • Strong leadership and teambuilding skills across cultures
  • Masters Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field
