Duties and Responsibilities

• Internship based at UNEP’s Regional Office in Beirut under the supervision of the Climate Change Regional Coordinator.
• Support research, analysis, and presentation of information from diverse sources to assist implementation of UNEP West Asia climate change activities.
• Provide support in capturing, managing, and analyzing data and information.
• Assist in mapping political contexts in the West Asia region and provide insights and regular updates.
• Support the compilation of country climate profiles.
• Assist in drafting and preparing press releases and news stories.
• Carry out additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the direct supervisor.

Qualifications / Special Skills

• Must meet one of the following:
• • Enrolled in or completed a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
  • Enrolled in or completed the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
• Relevant fields of study include: Environmental Sciences, Business or Public Administration, Social Science, Environmental Law, or related areas.
• No professional work experience required; field of study must be relevant to the internship.
• Must provide proof of enrollment or completion and an official certificate at a later stage.
• Good knowledge of standard software applications, including MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams.

Languages

• Fluency in English and Arabic is required.

• Internships are unpaid.
• Interns are responsible for travel, visas, accommodation, health insurance, and all living expenses.
• Non-citizens or non-permanent residents may need appropriate visa and work authorization.
• Selected candidates must clarify visa requirements before accepting the internship.
