Internship at the UNEP Regional Office for West Asia, Beirut.
Reports directly to the Regional Coordinator for Environmental Governance.
Supports the team in managing and analyzing data related to environmental governance in the region.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct legal and policy research from diverse sources to support UNEP projects focused on environmental law, access to justice, and governance in West Asia.
Maintain a shared repository of relevant sources used across research and publications, ensuring references are organized and accessible to the wider team.
Prepare analytical briefs and summaries highlighting trends and developments in environmental governance in the region.
Support engagement with West Asia countries, specifically civil society partners, to strengthen legal and policy dialogue on environmental governance.
Assist in the design and development of innovative representations of data and information.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the direct supervisor.
Qualifications / Special Skills
Must meet one of the following:
Enrolled in or completed a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
Enrolled in or completed the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
Preferred areas of study: Law, Environmental Science, Policy and Leadership, Business Management, Governance, Political Science, or related fields.
Computer literate in standard software applications.
Demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
Ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and beliefs.
No professional work experience required, though relevant field of study is essential.
Languages
Fluency in Arabic and English is required.
