Report to the Director of United Nations Information Centre for the Caribbean Area.
Monitor websites associated with UN offices, agencies, funds, and programmes serving the English- and Dutch-speaking Caribbean to identify and suggest suitable stories and press releases for a weekly UN Caribbean newsletter.
Maintain contact with communications focal points for UN offices, agencies, funds, and programmes to collect information, graphic materials, and website links for promotion in the weekly newsletter.
Prepare first drafts of a weekly bulletin-style story highlighting upcoming UN observances, Caribbean participation in global UN affairs, and key events hosted by the UN system in the Caribbean.
Monitor websites and social media platforms to identify UN job vacancies, consultancies, and internship opportunities for promotion via United Nations Caribbean digital platforms.
Use existing Canva templates to create social media graphics promoting Caribbean UN system stories and career opportunities, adding them to the social media content calendar with draft captions.
Promote youth-targeted UN system opportunities by identifying suitable options for inclusion in the social media content calendar and creating corresponding captions.
Assist with UNIC Caribbean-led activities alongside team members as required.
Collaboratively support the creation of youth-targeted digital content for the social media content calendar, adapted to match the intern’s content creation interests, strengths, and professional growth goals.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Special Skills
Must meet one of the following requirements:
Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school program (second university degree or higher).
Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent).
Field of study must be closely related to the type of internship.
Applicants must provide proof of enrollment or completion when requested.
Languages
Fluency in oral and written English is required.
English and French are the working languages of the UN Secretariat.
Additional Information
The global network of United Nations Information Centres (UNICs) is part of the Campaigns and Country Operations Division, Department of Global Communications (DGC).
UNICs coordinate with the UN system, media, educational institutions, governments, civil society, and the private sector to disseminate UN information and promote public understanding and support of UN activities.
Working in a hybrid format, the intern will support digital outreach, content creation, and stakeholder engagement aligned with UN communication priorities and SDG advocacy.
The internship is located at UNIC Port of Spain, offered initially for two months, with possible extension up to six months.
The internship is UNPAID, with full-time working hours (35 hours per week). Part-time schedules may be arranged depending on UNIC requirements.

Costs for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
