Work Location

  • Full-time, in-person

Expected Duration

  • 6 months

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work in the Library Services Section of the UN Library & Archives Geneva, under the supervision of the Chief of Library Services Section (also part of the UNOG Gender Focal Points).
  • Focus primarily on issues related to SDG 5 (Gender) and multimedia/video production.
  • Tasks may include:
    • Assisting with research
    • Multimedia production
    • Preparing social media posts
    • Updating and maintaining research guides and reading lists
    • Supporting planning and provision of training sessions or events
    • Preparing drafts for communications
    • Contributing to monitoring and evaluation of research and communication activities
    • Other activities with the team depending on interest and opportunity

Qualifications / Special Skills

  • Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
    • Enrolled in, or completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or higher)
    • Enrolled in, or completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s degree or equivalent)
  • A field of study closely related to the internship is required.
  • Proof of enrollment or degree completion must be provided.
  • Experience in multimedia production (videos, podcasts, design) is desirable.
  • Ability to draft news articles and/or social media posts is desirable.

Languages

  • Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
  • French is a working language of the United Nations Secretariat.
  • Knowledge of an additional official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, Spanish) is an advantage.

  • Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations.
  • Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
  • Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken may need to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization.
  • Successful candidates should discuss their specific visa requirements before accepting the internship offer.
