Duties and Responsibilities
This position is located in the United Nations Information Centre in Prague (UNIC Prague), within the Information Centres Service (ICS), Campaigns and Country Operations Division, Department of Global Communications.

UNIC Prague is the principal source of information about the United Nations system in the Czech Republic. It promotes public understanding and support for the UN’s work by:

  • Disseminating UN information materials in English and Czech
  • Engaging local and regional partners
  • Bringing the UN closer to the people it serves

The intern will report directly to the Head of Office and support the team in administrative and strategic communication tasks. The internship is for three months, with the possibility of extension depending on departmental needs.

Main responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting in maintaining UNIC digital communication channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)
  • Adapting social media assets in Canva; designing and posting stories; subtitling videos
  • Assisting in editing/adapting content for the UNIC Prague website
  • Maintaining a database of visuals and graphical elements in Trello
  • Assisting with maintenance of the UNIC contact database (MS Excel, Mailchimp)
  • Translating and editing materials (English–Czech and Czech–English)
  • Supporting the organization of public events (education programmes, seminars, festivals, job fairs, etc.)
  • Assisting with media monitoring
  • Responding to public inquiries and media communication
  • Supporting logistics and administrative tasks
  • Performing secretariat functions (handling mail, phone calls, emails)

Qualifications / Special Skills
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher)
  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s degree or equivalent)

While no professional work experience is required, applicants must have a field of study closely related to the internship function. Applicants should attach proof of eligibility (enrolment or graduation) and will need to provide an official certificate at a later stage.

Languages

  • Fluency in spoken and written English is required
  • Fluency in spoken and written Czech is also required
  • Knowledge of an additional official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) is an advantage

Intern-Specific Information

  • Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations
  • Costs for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the intern or their sponsoring institution
  • Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the internship country may need to obtain the appropriate visa and work authorization
  • Successful candidates should confirm visa requirements before accepting the offer
