The internship is located in the Outreach Unit, United Nations Information Service (UNIS), United Nations Office at Vienna (Austria).
The position is full-time, unpaid, with an envisaged starting date of 9 February 2026.
Interns work five days per week (40 hours) under the direct supervision of Professional staff of the Unit.
Prepare project outlines and support the Unit in its everyday activities.
Assist in the organization of events, film screenings, exhibitions, and campaigns.
Draft written material, presentations, remarks, social media content, multimedia products, etc.
Establish contacts with NGOs, IGOs, civil society, and academics.
Perform other tasks as necessary.
Qualifications/Special Skills
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
Be enrolled in, or have recently completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or higher); or
Be enrolled in, or have recently completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level). Official written proof from the university must be attached to the application.
Computer literate in standard software applications.
Demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter.
Ability to interact successfully with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, showing tolerance and understanding of differing opinions and views.
Applicants are not required to have professional work experience, but a field of study closely related to the internship is required.
Languages
Fluency in oral and written English and German is required.
Knowledge of a UNIS client country language (Hungarian, Slovak, Slovene) is desirable.
Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an asset.
Additional Information
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations.
Costs for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the host country may be required to obtain appropriate visas and work/employment authorizations.
