For this role the Partnerships Platform is partnering with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Labour and Trade, Government of Tuvalu (GoT). The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Labour and Trade works to advance the country’s interest in the international arena. This includes fostering diplomatic relations, managing treaties, and representing Tuvalu in international and regional organisations.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Labour and Trade through the Falepili Implementation Unit will oversee the progress and implementation of the Falepili Union Treaty as agreed by the governments of Tuvalu and Australia. Effective and timely implementation is essential to meet strategic objectives, and the Falepili Implementation Unit plays a critical part in ensuring success through expert guidance, coordination, and execution of expected deliverables.

About the Role
The Security Specialist, is part of the Falepili Implementation Unit (FIU), embedded in the Office of the Prime Minister, to help facilitate progress of Tuvalu’s Treaty commitments and report to the Government of Tuvalu on its progress. Oversee implementation of security-related work including the new National Security Coordination Centre, engagement on a national security strategy, and the operationalisation of the security guarantee. A central pillar of the Treaty is enhanced security cooperation, focused on supporting Tuvalu’s national sovereignty, resilience, and stability.
The Security Specialist will provide high-level technical, policy, and coordination support to enhance Tuvalu’s security governance in line with the Falepili Union. The role will assist in strengthening national security planning and risk management, inter-agency coordination, capacity building, and the implementation of cooperative activities with Australia under the Falepili Union Treaty.
The role will be based in Tuvalu within the Office of the Prime Minister. Flexible working arrangements can be considered, however this is subject to GoT needs and agreement.
We are seeking a highly qualified professional with a tertiary background in Development Studies, Security, Public Policy, or related fields. The ideal candidate will bring proven experience in senior technical roles, strong stakeholder engagement skills, and exceptional analytical and negotiation abilities to drive effective program delivery and continuous improvement.”
Prior Tuvalu civil service experience would be highly desired for this role.
