Public Information Intern – Social Media Section, Department of Global Communications

Duties and Responsibilities
The internship is in the Social Media Section, Communications Campaigns Service, Campaigns and Country Operations Division of the Department of Global Communications. The section is responsible for social media activities and platform integration (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn) for the Department.
Under delegated authority, the public information intern may be responsible for:
- Researching, compiling, drafting, and editing basic information for use in social media content, often under tight deadlines
- Monitoring and analyzing social media statistics
- Gathering content at special events (e.g., film screenings, concerts, exhibits)
- Assisting in the creation of original content for Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn
- Attending meetings as an observer
- Managing meeting agendas and drafting meeting notes
- Assisting with special projects as assigned
- Familiarity with or interest in digital photography is desirable
- Familiarity with Canva, Trello, PowerPoint, and/or Adobe Photoshop (or other graphic design programs) is desirable
- Interns must provide their own computer, software, and internet access
Qualifications / Special Skills
To qualify, applicants must meet one of the following conditions:
- Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (Master’s degree or equivalent)
- Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent)
Note:
- Field of study must be related to the internship
- No prior professional experience is required
- Applicants must provide proof of eligibility (e.g., university certification)
- Familiarity with Canva, Trello, PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop, or other graphic tools is desirable
- Experience or interest in digital photography is a plus
Languages
- Fluency in English is required
- Knowledge of another UN official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) or Portuguese, Kiswahili, or Hindi is desirable
