Job Description

Background Information
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) plays a vital role in supporting humanitarian operations through efficient and transparent supply chain management. In Lebanon, the Supply Chain Unit ensures the timely procurement and delivery of goods and services that meet operational needs and benefit vulnerable populations.

Under the overall supervision of the Head of Resources Management and the direct guidance of the Senior Supply Chain Associate, the intern will contribute to the unit’s efforts by supporting procurement, logistics, and administrative functions. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in humanitarian supply chain operations, understand international procurement standards, and develop practical skills in a dynamic, multicultural environment.

The intern will work closely with various teams, including Finance, Administration, and Programme Units, to ensure that supply chain activities are carried out in compliance with IOM policies and procedures. Through this role, the intern will gain exposure to the end-to-end procurement process, vendor management, contract tracking, and logistical coordination, all of which are essential for effective humanitarian response.

Responsibilities Supervision

Under the overall supervision of the Head of Resources Management in Lebanon and direct supervision of the Senior Supply Chain Associate; and, in collaboration with relevant units at Headquarters and the Administrative Centers.

Learning Objectives
  • Understand and apply procurement management principles by receiving, reviewing, and consolidating requisitions in compliance with IOM’s Purchase Authorization Matrix and related procedures.
  • Gain practical experience in procurement operations through the preparation of procurement documents, solicitation of bids, and evaluation of quotations.
  • Develop skills in supply chain monitoring by tracking requisitions, verifying deliveries, reviewing vendor invoices, and coordinating with the Finance Unit to ensure timely payments.
  • Enhance organizational and logistical capabilities by supporting the planning and execution of meetings, workshops, trainings, and events.
  • Learn contract and asset management practices by assisting in tracking agreements, managing renewals, and monitoring office supplies and utilities payments.
  • Build adaptability and teamwork skills by contributing to various tasks and responsibilities as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications Education
  • Final-year bachelor’s or recent graduate (within 12 months), or
  • Master’s student
Preferred fields of study Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Procurement, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or Economics Experience

Having previous internship experience with an international organization is an advantage.
