Program Overview
The PNG Governance Facility (PGF) is an innovative governance initiative in Papua New Guinea, aimed at contributing to security, stability, basic service delivery and inclusive growth for all Papua New Guineans. The PGF will be responsible for the design and implementation of most of Australia’s future governance portfolio under the strategic direction and oversight of the Australian and PNG Governments.
Australia’s support aims to help revitalise the PNG National Museum and Art Gallery (NMAG) and its role as a thriving centre of cultural identity, activity and knowledge. The Gallery holds some of Papua New Guinea’s most remarkable cultural treasures, historical artefacts, contemporary art, and plant and animal specimens. Previously support has included the completion of the NMAG Master Plan, which outlines NMAG’s vision (2015-2030) to guide the development of its operations, site and infrastructure. The National Museum and Art Gallery is of critical importance to the cultural and social life of Papua New Guinea. The work and collections of NMAG are also of international significance.
Role Summary
The Technical Adviser, Corporate and Business Services, PNG National Museum and Art Gallery will work closely with the NMAG executive to strengthen the capacity of the institution. This will involve undertaking a capacity needs analysis and then planning and implementing activities that respond to both individual and institutional needs.
