Overview:
University Research Co., LLC (URC) is searching for an experienced Technical Advisor for an anticipated USAID $10-25 million Malaria Control Activity in the Greater Mekong Sub-region. The purpose of this activity is to reduce malaria morbidity within border communities by expanding access to high-quality malaria preventive, diagnostic, and treatment services, strengthening the capacity of local health systems and health workers to deliver malaria services to high risk and under-served populations, and increasing the demand for and uptake of malaria preventive, diagnostic, and treatment services.
This is a full time position, located in Bangkok, Thailand.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Chief of Party, the Technical Advisor is responsible for providing high level strategic leadership, guidance, oversight and supervision of the design, implementation, monitoring of project-supported high quality, high-impact malaria control and health systems strengthening (HSS) interventions.
Specific roles and responsibilities as the Technical Advisor include, but are not limited to, the following:
*Lead and manage the malaria technical and HSS Activity components.
*In coordination with the COP, responsible for ensuring that all technical assistance and project inputs are strategic, consistent and coordinated.
*Serve as lead for program implementation at operational level.
*Regularly assess systems capabilities of EHOs and update, adapt interventions.
*Support each EHOs for developing and implementing tailor-made health system strengthening intervention.
*Ensure documentation and dissemination of key results and deliverables. S/he works closely with the M&E and Surveillance Advisor on this task.
*Support the malaria, HSS and M&E focal points embedded into EHOs by the Activity.
*Directly supervise a team of technical experts, local and international consultants.
*Serve as Acting Chief of Party when he/she is away on annual leave or other engagements as requested, including oversight for other departments.
Qualifications:
Required Experience and Qualifications
*MB, BS or master’s degree in a relevant field such as public health, public administration, business administration, etc.
*Previous experience working on US government programs will be considered an asset.
*Demonstrated organizational and relationship building skills.
*Demonstrated supervisory experience.
*Ability to work under pressure and adapt to situations as required due to changes on the ground.
*Experience working in Burma or Thailand is preferred.
*Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
*Strong oral and written communication skills in English is required.
