The EIB, the European Union’s bank, is seeking to recruit for its Finance Directorate (FI) - Planning and Settlement of Operations Department (PRO) - Transaction Processing Lending Division (TPL), at its headquarters in Luxembourg: TRAINEE
Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st March 2026)

Objective of the traineeship
Guided by experienced staff, you will support the design, implementation, and optimisation of an AI-powered platform that automates the lending transaction process. You will help streamline data extraction, automate compliance checks, and reduce manual interventions, directly contributing to increased efficiency, accuracy, and risk control in lending operations. The project aims to deliver measurable efficiency gains, improved client experience, and enhanced compliance.
You will also be actively involved in various innovative and automation initiatives, including assistance in the development and documentation of a blockchain-based workflow for green bond issuance and lending. You will help map the end-to-end process, identify opportunities for automation, and support the integration of smart contracts for real-time compliance, transparency, and reporting. The project’s objective is to demonstrate the value of distributed ledger technology in sustainable finance, ensuring traceability, auditability, and operational efficiency from funding to project completion.
Additionally, you will be involved by the team to contribute to ongoing initiatives aiming to automate or streamline our general processes. Your active participation in delivering these projects will be highly valued.
