'Be wary of too many artificial, big targets' — EuropeAid

EuropeAid does not undervalue the potential of what can be done through local authorities and NGOs, deputy director general Marcus Cornaro tells Devex Editor Rolf Rosenkranz at the European Development Days in Brussels.

    By Devex Editor // 27 November 2013

“I do not get the sense that we are undervaluing the potential of what we can do credibly through local authorities and local NGOs,” said Marcus Cornaro, deputy director general of geographic programs at EuropeAid.

Devex Editor Rolf Rosenkranz sat down for an exclusive interview with Cornaro at the 2013 European Development Days in Brussels to discuss his thoughts on USAID Forward and working with local organizations.

Cornaro said simplification of the process will be key so that a local organization doesn’t have to deal directly with EuropeAid, but rather go through operators who are familiar and comfortable with the process that can then engage smaller organizations.
