    Big cities, big opportunities

From our ongoing exploration of the top global development employment opportunities in major hub cities around the globe, here are the most active hiring organizations in three key locations based on the number of postings on Devex’s job board, including currently available opportunities.

    Bogotá

Due to the influx of Venezuelan refugees and migrants in Colombia, there is an active presence of refugee-focused organizations here, such as the UN Refugee Agency, HIAS, and the Danish Refugee Council. Of these non-U.N. agencies, DRC tops the list in terms of most jobs offered in Bogotá over the past 12 months and is currently seeking a mine risk education team leader.

    Nairobi

Designated as the U.N.’s African headquarters in 1996, Nairobi houses the headquarters of several U.N. agencies, including the United Nations Environment Programme and UN-Habitat. UNEP has been the most active job poster of these agencies and has several current opportunities, including for a senior programme management assistant and a public information officer.

    Bangkok

The Thai capital is considered to be a U.N. regional hub in the Asia-Pacific since it hosts the headquarters of the U.N. Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific. As such, UNESCAP is the leading U.N. employer here and is currently seeking a regional advisor on environmental statistics. Outside the U.N., the Asian Development Bank has outpaced others and is currently looking to hire an AIT business analyst/consultant.
