The top global development employers hiring in Bangkok

Our ongoing exploration of the top global development employment opportunities in key cities around the globe continues with Bangkok, a U.N. regional hub in the Asia-Pacific.

    By Genevieve Gregorio // 29 November 2023

Bangkok is one of the busiest and most populated cities in Southeast Asia. The Thai capital is home to the headquarters and regional offices of several international organizations, including agencies of the United Nations. The city is considered to be a U.N. regional hub in the Asia-Pacific since it hosts the headquarters of UNESCAP, established in Shanghai in 1947 and later moved to Bangkok in 1949, and several regional offices of U.N. agencies such as UNICEF, U.N. Development Program, and UN Women.

Bangkok has a large presence of U.N. agencies and job opportunities, and data from Devex's board shows that other INGOs and private sector organizations are also increasing their job postings in the city. These include the Asian Development Bank and the Center for People and Forests, which have posted the most Bangkok-based jobs. The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, Tetra Tech, and the U.K.’s Foreign, Commonwealth, & Development Office are among the other top organizations hiring in the city.

As we continue our exploration of the top global development employment opportunities in key cities around the world, here is a closer look at the top global development employers in Bangkok, along with some currently available roles based in the city, with a distinction between jobs offered by international organizations and jobs offered by U.N. agencies with offices in the city and projects in the country and region.
