The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria is allocating $10.78 billion in country grants for 2026-2028, marking the lowest allocation since the 2020 funding cycle.

It comes during a period of funding constraints in global health. Countries are already dealing with shrinking bilateral donor funds. Many health services have also closed or been reduced, including services for people living with and at high risk of acquiring HIV.

The fund allocated $12.7 billion in 2020-2022, which increased to $13.1 billion for the 2023-2025 cycle, but this amount was cut by $1.43 billion due to donor funding uncertainties.
