The Somali transitional government has suspended the operations of several aid agencies, including UNICEF and the International Committee of the Red Cross, after these groups missed a government-sponsored meeting tackling the country’s drought.

Abdurahman Yusuf Farah, deputy minister at the water, energy and mining ministry, said the suspended aid groups had ignored a request by the government for a meeting scheduled on an unspecified date.

The Norwegian Refugee Council, Danish Refugee Council and Concern were also suspended, Agence France-Presse reports.
