A lawsuit filed Monday by a pair of nonprofit organizations that receive funding from the U.S. Agency for International Development and the State Department is challenging the Trump administration’s pause on new U.S. foreign aid and an order to stop work on existing projects.
The suit, brought by the AIDS Vaccine Advocacy Coalition, or AVAC, a New York-based nonprofit that works to end HIV/AIDs, and the Journalism Development Network, or JDN, a Maryland-based nonprofit, argues that the Trump administration “illegally and unconscionably” froze foreign assistance funding.
The lawsuit names several defendants, including the State Department, USAID, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the Office of Management and Budget, OMB Director Russell Vought, and U.S. President Donald Trump.
